With this tremendous whirlwind of events, it's difficult to not only fathom the death of one of our most iconic geniuses of the time, but to truly figure where everything collided and went wrong. I think that Lee was someone who went against the grain, and as an artist, the most frustrating thing in the world is meeting so many expectations. Was it the industry? Was it the instability? Who is responsible to care and nurture the artist? Who knows? At the end of the day, it's understandable to many of us how someone could reach that point. At the same time, this was someone (we thought) who looked so far into the future and lived in such a different mesmerizing world that you would believe our modern troubles didn't phase him at all. Hell, we all wonder what went wrong. If anyone could survive this world, we thought - definitely McQueen. Alas, we are simply left with "1969-2010."
